A Finer Purpose 4/8/06

A Finer Purpose 4/8/06

Here lies my gentleman
Curled up to sleep
On mothers great lap
Where sweet dreams creep.

His hot red cheeks
In slumber blush
The fires of fantasy
Feed the flush.

Winding around
His neck so fair
Are curly tendrils
Of strawberry hair.

And this way and that
His eyelids flirt
While plump little fingers
Clasp my skirt.

O undeserved gift!
I see in that face
More dear than salvation
A new kind of grace

My heart swells and surges
How could I resent
My life given for you?
I wholly repent.

For what other purpose
Could ever compete
With tending to angels
So perfect and sweet?
