Quiet 5/5/06

No breeze
sleeping trees
whisper of bugs
chirping frogs and birds
are heard in a separate dimension
their background noise only serves
to enhance the pervasive quiet here.

Over still
serene water
sunshine melts like
butter sliding down the hillsides
and forgotten roads wind soundlessly
past glancing deer and into the hushed distance.
